Gray Epoxy Topcoat (2K)

Description

Gray Epoxy Topcoat (2-component) is formulated with epoxy resin, pigments such as titanium dioxide, additives, and plasticizers. The epoxy curing agent should be added in proportion during use. It is suitable for the anti-corrosion of steel surfaces and as a topcoat for the outer walls of oil tanks and storage tanks.

Best For

  • steel structure protection
  • industrial floor systems
  • heavy-duty anti-corrosion projects

Buyer Benefits

  • strong adhesion to prepared substrates
  • good chemical resistance
  • suitable for multi-coat protective systems

Key Features

  • Great performance.
  • Excellent water resistance.
  • Providing firm toughness of adhesion.
  • Providing solvent resistance.

Typical Coating System

Typical epoxy system: epoxy primer, optional epoxy intermediate coat, and polyurethane or fluorocarbon topcoat when exterior color and weather resistance are required.

Application Guide

Application Method 1. Surface Preparation: The primer must be completely dry, and any oil stains and debris on the coating film should be removed. 2. Application Conditions: The substrate temperature must be at least 3°C higher than the dew point. Relative humidity should not exceed 85%. If the outdoor temperature is below 0°C, the reaction of the epoxy curing agent stops, and application should not proceed. 3. Coating Application Methods: Diluent: Epoxy thinner (for airless spraying and conventional air spraying) Dilution Ratio: 0-15% (for both airless spraying and conventional air spraying) Nozzle Size: 0.4-0.5mm (airless spraying); 2.0-3.0mm (conventional air spraying) Spraying Pressure: 15-17 MPa (approx. 150-170 kg/cm², airless spraying); 0.3-0.4 MPa (approx. 3-4 kg/cm², conventional air spraying) Cleaning Agent: Epoxy thinner 4. Recommended Coating Layers: For airless spraying, apply two coats to achieve a dry film thickness of 80 µm. For brushing or rolling, apply 2-3 coats. 5. Coating Interval: Minimum curing times: 48 hours at 5°C, 24 hours at 20°C, 16 hours at 30°C. Maximum curing times: 14 days at 5°C, 7 days at 20°C, 5 days at 30°C. 6. Recommended Undercoats: Epoxy zinc-rich primer, epoxy micaceous iron oxide intermediate paint, or other two-component epoxy anti-corrosion coatings.
