ISO 12944 C2: baja corrosividad

Environment Definition

ISO 12944 C2 covers low atmospheric corrosivity. It is commonly used for rural outdoor atmospheres with low pollution and for unheated interiors where occasional condensation may occur.

Typical examples include rural warehouses, sports halls, agricultural buildings, protected utility rooms, and general steelwork away from marine or chemical exposure.

Coating Selection Logic

C2 systems should provide better protection than a purely decorative indoor coating while still remaining practical for general steelwork. The key decision is whether the steel will be cleaned by hand/power tools or by abrasive blasting.

Alkyd systems can be suitable for cost-sensitive, low-risk projects. Acrylic or epoxy primers may be reviewed when faster drying, stronger adhesion, or improved maintenance performance is needed.
